Vermont State Police troopers and others were searching Monday for a prison inmate who escaped from the state prison in Windsor.
Police believed that 23-year-old Anthony Fitzgerald escaped at around 9 a.m. Monday.
Fitzgerald is 5-feet, 9-inches tall and weighs about 275 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, he has a Mohawk haircut and is possibly wearing a hat.
He is believed to have ties to the Rutland area.
Fitzgerald was incarcerated for lewd and lascivious conduct with a child.
Police did not say how Fitzgerald escaped.
