Senegal And Vermont Talk About Cooperation

Wikimedia Commons/Public Domain

Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin and the president of the west African nation of Senegal say they are looking forward to cooperating in education, agriculture, energy and possibly other areas.

Shumlin and President Macky Sall made the comments Friday during a visit by Sall to the Vermont Statehouse.

After meeting with Shumlin, Sall and members of his delegation were to meet with officials at the Vermont Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security and educational leaders.

On Thursday, Sall visited the Vermont National Guard, which has had a partnership with the Senegalese military since 2008.

Nearly two dozen African leaders are in the United States this week for meetings in Washington.
