The Vermont Agency of Transportation has released a list of more than 50 road, bridge and rail projects that could be delayed because the federal money relied on for those projects might not be available.
Congressman Peter Welch on Monday discussed negotiations in Congress over re-authorization of the Highway Trust Fund, which is how states pay for most major road construction projects.
Vermont Secretary of Transportation Brian Searles joined Welch in calling for action. “At this point, two weeks from the August recess, we need a short term amd a long term solution. We need to be able to finish this construction season. We also need a long term source of revenue.”
The House is expected to take up a short-term re-authorization this week.
