Casino companies, that are typically competitors, may unite to fight repeal of the Massachusetts casino law.
Casino developers pursuing projects in Massachusetts have had preliminary discussions about a coordinated campaign to defeat the repeal referendum in November, according to MGM Springfield President Mike Mathis.
" We are going to collaborate on a communication plan to assure we are consistent about talking about the benefits of each of our respective projects."
MGM has secured the lone casino license in western Massachusetts. Mohegan Sun and Wynn are competing for the Greater Boston license. Penn National is building a slots parlor at a harness racecourse in Plainville. All the projects are in jeopardy now that the state’s highest court has allowed a vote in November on repealing the state’s casino law.
