VPT Presents Internal Investigation Findings

Vermont Public Television

A committee of the board of directors of Vermont Public Television says that none of the board's meetings were improperly closed to the public.

The board's audit committee did find that the volunteer board failed to post notices after 18 closed meetings that explained why those meetings, held to discuss personnel matters or get advice from attorneys, had been closed.

The review was triggered by an anonymous complaint in December. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting is also investigating.

At a Wednesday meeting, the board also adopted the committee's recommendations to ensure no future violations of the federal open meeting law. The board also rejected a call from a member that board leadership should resign.

The board will submit its findings to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
