New artists and new venues will usher in the new year in Northampton, Massachusetts at the city’s 29th annual First Night celebration
Just a year after there were concerns First Night Northampton might not survive the event is back at a record 22 venues with hundreds of performers. Penny Burke, the executive director of the Northampton Center for the Arts, the long time First Night producer, said the family-friendly program runs from noon to Midnight and features a troupe of acrobats, a parade, fireworks show, a poetry slam and more than 50 musical acts.
"A lot of bang for your buck as they say. For $16 or $20 on the day you can really see a lot of shows."
The city of Northampton is offering free parking after 10am Tuesday on street and in municipal lots.
