Police Warn About Package Delivery Scam

Law enforcement authorities warn scams appear to increase during the busy holiday season.

Police in Springfield, Massachusetts put out public alert urging vigilance after someone posing as an express package delivery driver stole a pocketbook containing cash.  Police said a man knocked on a door in the city’s East Forest Park neighborhood and told the woman who answered he needed to collect a delivery charge for a package.  After being let into the house, the man asked to use the bathroom, and on the way out swiped the pocketbook that had been left out on the kitchen table.  Police said it contained a large amount of cash.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
