Experts are telling Massachusetts state budget writers to expect modest revenue growth next year
Michael Widmer, President of the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation told a Statehouse hearing Wednesday that his group forecasts a 4.7 percent increase in tax revenues…or about $1 billion. The Massachusetts Department of Revenue projects similar growth. Widmer said if the estimates are correct there will be enough money for legislators and the governor to fund small increases in popular programs such as local aid and higher education without a tax increase.
Legislators and the administration will produce a consensus revenue estimate to prepare the next state budget.
