The lawyer for six people convicted of protesting construction of Green Mountain Power's Kingdom Community Wind project in Lowell says she's disappointed the Vermont Supreme Court upheld the convictions.
In a ruling issued Friday, the court rejected arguments including that the jury should have been made aware that there was uncertainty about who owned the land where the protesters were arrested in December 2011. That argument was the basis for a dissent by Justice John Dooley.
The six were protesting construction of the 21-turbine project.
Defense Attorney Kristina Michelsen says the case has significant property rights implications in criminal trespass cases.
Ron Holland, Anne Morse, David Rodgers, Ryan Gillard, Suzanna Jones, and Eric Wallace-Senft were sentenced to community service, but the sentences were delayed pending appeal.
