A western Massachusetts bridge repair project has finished more than a month ahead of schedule
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said the Manhan River Bridge in Easthampton opened to traffic Thursday afternoon after a $4 million replacement project finished five weeks ahead of schedule. MassDOT Highway Administrator Frank DePoala, who visited the construction site in August, said the bridge project was the first in western Massachusetts to use precast materials and the contractor is due a $100,000 bonus for finishing early
The project was part of a $3 billion-five year program to repair hundreds of structurally deficient bridges in Massachusetts.
