The Vermont Health Department says tests have found more mosquito pools infected with the virus that causes the potentially deadly disease Eastern equine encephalitis.
The Vermont Health Department says the virus was found in more mosquitoes from the swampy areas of Whiting, nearby Leicester, Brandon and Sudbury.
Health Commissioner Dr. Harry Chen says the entire area around the swamp system appears to be a "hot spot" for EEE.
The virus was found in five mosquito pools sampled on Aug. 26, 27 and 28. West Nile virus has also been found in the area.
Chen is urging everyone in the area to protect themselves from mosquito bites.
Last year, two people from the area died after contracting EEE.
