VT Office of State Atty Staying Put

The office of the Vermont state attorney is not relocating to the newly proposed office complex in White River Junction.

The main reason is that prosecutors and their staff thought relocating to a new office complex on Route 4 would mean too long a walk to the White River Junction courthouse.

State's Attorney Michael Kainen told the Valley News it makes sense to keep his office located in the Gates-Briggs Building.

The $8 million complex is part of the first phase of a multi-step development project along Prospect Street in White River Junction.

Other state departments, including the Agency of Human Services and the Department of Motor Vehicles, are scheduled to move into the building.
