A Vermont school district has received a grant of over $204,000 from the U.S. Department of Education to establish or expand counseling programs.
The district in Milton is one of 35 districts in 17 states to receive a grant. The total amount awarded nationally was $12 million.
Recipients will use funds to support counseling programs in targeted elementary schools. The grants will help schools in hiring qualified mental health professionals to expand counseling services. Parents of participating students will have input in the programs.
