Vermont School Officials Deny Charges

wikipedia commons

Two school officials in the Vermont town of Danville have denied charges of failing to report a case of suspected abuse.

Caledonia Central Supervisory Union Superintendent Martha Tucker and Danville School Principal Noah Noyes both pleaded not guilty on Monday.

Police say Tucker and Noyes failed to report allegations to the Vermont Department of Children and Families that a teacher at the Danville School inappropriately touched a student on April 29. They are both charged with misdemeanor failure to report suspected child abuse and neglect of duty by a public officer.

The teacher has not been charged. The Caledonian Record reports that police say the case is still ongoing.
