Lawyer: Vermont Man Won't Testify in Teacher Death

A Vermont lawyer for a woman charged with killing a prep school teacher says her husband won't testify against his client at her upcoming trial.

The lawyer for Patricia Prue is asking a judge to rule that statements Allen Prue made to police outlining the role his wife allegedly played in the March 2012 killing of Melissa Jenkins can't be used at Sheila Prue's upcoming trial.

The 34-year-old Patricia Prue and 31-year-old Allen Prue have both pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from the abduction and murder of Jenkins, a St. Johnsbury Academy science teacher.

Police say Allen Prue told investigators that Jenkins was murdered after he and his wife decided to "get a girl."

The Caledonian Record says that without Allen Prue's testimony the statements are hearsay.
