Mohegan Sun Adds Water Park, Hotel To Palmer Casino Project

Mohegan Sun has announced the addition of a water park and a second hotel to its proposed casino project in western Massachusetts.

Mohegan Sun said the new features at its proposed resort casino in Palmer will increase the project investment to nearly $1 billion , which would make it the largest in the competition for the lone western Massachusetts casino license. Palmer Town Council member Paul Burns said it ups the ante for all other casino developers.

MGM Resorts is proposing an $800 million casino in downtown Springfield. A voter referendum is scheduled on the project on July 16^th. Hard Rock International wants to build a casino on part of the Big E Fairgrounds in West Springfield.
