Vermont Governor Releases Irene Recovery Report

A new report says Vermont is on target to close the vast majority of Irene-related cases by late summer, two years after flooding from the tropical storm damaged more than 7,000 homes.

The report released Monday by Governor Peter Shumlin provides an update on the recovery efforts.

Irene Recovery Officer Dave Rapaport says hundreds of Vermont families and hard-hit communities are still struggling with the consequences of the damage. But he says many dedicated local, state, federal and private partners have continued to make great strides toward completing the work.

Since June of 2012, Vermont has been awarded more than $50 million in additional federal public assistance grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, for a current total of $143 million.
