A Western Massachusetts utility is warning customers to prepare for a winter storm expected to bring prolonged rain and snow into the region.

The Western Massachusetts Electric Company is warning that the winter storm expected to   bring rain and snow to the region through Friday could bring high winds related power outages across it’s service area.

The utility is advising customers to take precautions by prepare storm kits, which include flashlights with spare batteries, a radio or TV, a first aid kit, prescription medications, non-perishable foods, bottled water, and pet and baby supplies.

The National Weather Service in Albany is predicting rain and snow for much of the WAMC Listening area. More potentially hazardous weather is forecasted for Western Massachusetts.
