Vermont Wind Debate Might Come Before Recommendation

Some Vermont legislators pushing for moratorium on wind power projects believe a pending recommendation from a commission created to review the sites won't come in time to influence debate on the bill.

The commission's deadline is April 30, with a draft report expected by the end of March.
Senator John Rodgers is on the committee on Energy and Natural Resources. He says the panel will have already moved on the bill by then.

Rodgers tells the Caledonian-Record he and other senators want a moratorium to study health impacts of the projects and receive recommendations from the commission.

The five-member energy siting commission formed by Governor Peter Shumlin conducted a site visit of the Lowell and Sheffield wind projects last week.
