This week, lawmakers in Montpelier have been reviewing ways the state can reduce its impact on climate change. Meanwhile, the Department of Public Service is implementing a renewable energy plan. On today’s Community Corner, Commissioner Chris Recchia talks about Vermont’s on-going efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.
The state of Vermont currently gets nearly a quarter of its energy from renewable sources. In 2011 state officials updated its energy plan to include a goal to obtain 90 percent of its energy from renewables by 2050. The Department of Public Service and Commissioner Chris Recchia are tasked with implementing the plan.
