Officials in Springfield Massachusetts have scheduled an informational meeting with representatives from the three companies looking to build a resort casino in the city. WAMC’s Paul Tuthill reports.
The meeting this Wednesday in Springfield City Hall is open to the public. The city’s Chief Development Officer Kevin Kennedy calls it another milestone in the city’s casino competition process.
Ameristar Casinos, MGM Resorts and Penn National Gaming have proposed separate projects in Springfield, each totaling close to $1 billion. The companies passed an initial review by city officials and now have until December 14th to submit detailed plans and to pay a $400,000 non refundable license application fee to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
