A New Hampshire town is holding a public meeting next week on Vermont's plans to renovate a shooting range in Hartland following complaints about noise.
The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife will present its plan to the town of Plainfield, N.H., on Monday, July 30.
The Valley News reports that some residents across the Connecticut River in Plainfield have complained about frequent noise throughout the day and night at the unregulated gun range.
Vermont Fish and Wildlife project manager Chris Saunders says the range will be gated, and hours and the caliber of gun allowed will be discussed. Berms also will be constructed on either side of the range to decrease the sound that travels across the river. The total project is expected to cost an estimated $314,000.
