Lake Champlain Phosphorus Runoff Spiking

Burlington, VT – Vermont, New York and Quebec have been involved for years in efforts to control phosphorus runoff into Lake Champlain. All three governments signed an agreement in 1993 agreeing to phosphorus management programs they hoped would reduce the amount of the pollutant in the lake. But new figures indicate the amount of phosphorus flowing into the lake has grown by as much as 50 percent since 1991. WAMC's North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley has more.
