Shumlin, Brock, Spar in TV Debate in Burlington

Vermont Democratic Gov. Peter Shumlin and Republican challenger Randy Brock interrupted each other and challenged the truth of each other's statements during their last television debate before Election Day.

The candidates were allowed to ask each other questions during part of Wednesday night's debate hosted by WPTZ-TV in Burlington.

Shumlin questioned the feasibility of one of Brock's ideas to jumpstart the economy — the "business in a box" that would link unemployed residents with business ideas funded by private money. Brock said Shumlin didn't understand the proposal.

Brock brought up the governor's recent land purchase from friends in East Montpelier, suggesting Shumlin got a good deal. He said Shumlin "ought to be doing that for the state of Vermont." Shumlin said he does so "every single day".
