The Rick McLaughlin Trio

Our final WSHS concert for the season will take place at the Old Town Hall on Saturday, September 24, at 8 pm featuring bassist Rick McLaughlin and his trio, guitarist Sheryl Bailey and drummer Yoron Israel.

Rick with his trio members will lead a pre-concert conversation at 7:15 pm to provide a behind-the-scenes look at how a jazz group approaches a song and then how they work together to bring the song to life through improvisation.

Rick is one of the most highly regarded musicians on the Boston jazz scene today. His playing embraces the full spectrum of jazz, from straight-ahead acoustic jazz to his work with the Either/Orchestra, a post-bop/avant-garde big band led by saxophonist/arranger Russ Gershon.
