25 years ago, the late great Mark Sandman told his erstwhile bandmate Mike Rivard that he should go start a band. Ever since, Boston-based dub-jazz collective Club d’Elf has been helping audiences lose track of time while creating mesmerizing musical chimeras that weave their distinct, Moroccan folk-infused trance with elements from an astonishing spectrum of other styles, including jazz, hip-hop, electronica, avant-garde, prog-rock, and dub. Our merry band of musical wizards are stopping March 10 at The Falcon in Marlboro, with Jon Medeski and Reeve Gabrels (The Cure) as special guests. Here's what you can expect, from Mike himself:

As part of the ongoing Club d'Elf 25th Anniversary celebration, we are reuniting the classic line up from 2002, which toured the South and recorded the album "Live: Athens GA 3/28/02". The core band on that tour - John Medeski, Mat Maneri, Mister Rourke, Mike Rivard, Brahim Fribgane & Eric Kalb - were joined for two shows in Georgia by guitarist Reeves Gabrels, then on a break from his gig with David Bowie. The band stopped at "The American Stonehenge" outside Elberton, GA for a photograph in front of the mysterious granite monoliths, before heading on to perform at the Georgia Theater in Athens, resulting in the album that was released on the Kufala label. This is a very rare, one-time-only reunion that will perform two shows only: March 10 at The Falcon in Marlboro, NY, and March 11 at Deep Dive in Ithaca, NY. Don't miss it!
