We start the night with Andrew Mirabile. Built from Rock ’n Roll, shaped by Country, formed with tightly crafted songwriting and an extremely compelling live performance, Albany, NY-based artist Andrew Mirabile ignites an excited anticipation from a fan base that's rapidly growing. After moving back to upstate New York, where he grew up, he began to bloom. His passion, professionalism, and heartfelt songwriting allowed him to fit right in with other top musicians in his area. The recent buzz surrounding Mirabile is behind his single “Bad Cigarettes,” which can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major streaming sites. In his typical live performances, Mirabile is backed by an impressive 4 piece band known as The Preachers. For tonight’s performance, Andrew performed solo with his raw and gritty electric guitar and smooth and fiery vocals. As you’ll hear tonight, his one man show by no means lacks the passion and energy that’s typical with his full band. So enjoy, Andrew Mirabile on electric guitar and vocals- recorded Live at the Linda on November 17, 2019.

Our headliner tonight is Willie Nile. There was a lot of expectation when Willie Nile hit the Greenwich Village scene in the seventies and both life and comparison impacted his early career despite touring with the Who and the critical acclaim of his first few albums. But great musicians and great songwriters just are, and so Willie remained, and in 2006 the release of his LP, Streets of New York, finally gave him the public recognition that many in the industry had felt was long overdue. Since then, Willie had released more than ten LP’s and has maintained a rigorous touring schedule year after year. The concert you’ll hear tonight was Willie’s 10th show at the Linda and we are big fans as he continues to deliver every time with his infectious passion for the words and music he creates. Often referred to as the unofficial poet laureate of New York City, Willie can turn on a dime at one moment pounding out blow the roof off rock , then delivering the softest ballad- potentially making you mistake him for some Irish troubadour. Most of all, Willie is a great storyteller and though he rocks the house without apology, you still feel like you just got to hang out one-on-one with the guy. Born and bred in Buffalo but always the consumet New Yorker, his live performances are legendary. So enjoy the one and only Willie Nile on guitar, piano and vocals, Jonnie Pisano on bass and vocals, Matt Hogan on Guitar and vocals and Jon Weber on Drums-recorded Live at the Linda on May 26, 2018.

Join us here next week at the same time for our broadcast of The Jagaloons from December 2020 featured on the Open for Take-Out Virtual Concert Series and Y La Bamba from May 9, 2018.

We realize that the impacts of COVID-19 have been dire for working musicians and the music industry as a whole. The Linda: WAMC’s Performing Arts Studio is thrilled to let you know about “The Open for Takeout Virtual Concert Series” produced in collaboration with Chromoscope Pictures. The program features local and regional musicians playing on The Linda stage and viewable worldwide online through Youtube. The goal of this series is to bring musicians back to the stage in a safe environment and provide fans with a professionally produced concert delivered directly to your homes. Similar to some of our in-person concerts, these will be ticketed events. And similar to all in-person concerts at The Linda, we will insure the highest standard of production.

Coming up on The Open for Take-Out VCS we welcome Musicians of Ma’alwyck on Monday April 5, at 8 pm. You can find tickets to this show and the rest of the series at thelinda.org or keep up with us on Facebook (@thelindawamc) and Instagram (the_linda_performing_arts).
