Westchester County is opening an economic development office in Manhattan and is targeting companies that are thinking about leaving New York City.

County Executive Rob Astorino announced the move during Wednesday night's State of the County message. He says the office will open next month on Park Avenue near Grand Central Terminal, where trains connect the city to Westchester's suburbs. Astorino says the office will promote Westchester's assets to companies and entrepreneurs considering relocation or expansion, as well as startups. He says companies should consider Westchester before they decide to leave the state. Also in his speech, Astorino promised not to raise county property taxes, an annual promise he has kept since taking office.
