Abolitionist Frederick Douglass delivered a speech about U.S. politics to an audience of several thousand at Poughkeepsie’s College Hill Park in August of 1858.

Celebrating the African Spiritin will commemorate the event on August 1st where you can hear parts of his powerful speech recited by acclaimed actor - Paul Oakley Stovall. Stovall played George Washington in the touring production of "Hamilton."
