In "Vesper Flights," Helen Macdonald brings together a collection of her best loved essays, along with new pieces on topics ranging from nostalgia for a vanishing countryside to the tribulations of farming ostriches to her own private vespers while trying to fall asleep.

Helen Macdonald is an English writer, naturalist, and an Affiliated Research Scholar at the University of Cambridge Department of History and Philosophy of Science. She is best known as the author of "H is for Hawk," which won the 2014 Samuel Johnson Prize and Costa Book Award.

She will be in conversation with Bard College Writer in Residence Susan Fox Rogers in a virtual event for Oblong Books on July 15.
