Alerts went out Thursday morning warning city residents to avoid the area around 592 North Street – the vacant White Terrace apartment complex – while firefighting efforts continued.
“We had a fire that came in just before midnight last night," said Pittsfield Fire Department Captain Matt Packard. "We had crews here all night. There was a lot of fire showing when we got here. And at this point the fire has been extinguished, the building’s in tough shape, but it's under investigation.”
The complex last caught fire in 2017, displacing two dozen residents.
