Massachusetts has dropped charges against four demonstrators arrested in Otis State Forest for blocking Kinder Morgan’s Connecticut pipeline expansion.

Sugar Shack Alliance members have been trying for months to stop Kinder Morgan from laying down pipe to expand its natural gas pipeline into Western Massachusetts. Many were arrested for blocking access roads and trespassing near tree felling equipment.

Four of 10 alliance members arrested August 9th were cleared of all charges after their day in court. Prosecutors said they were unwilling to pursue the case.

The Alliance says all told, more than 65 people have been arrested, some of whom have been ordered to pay a $100 fine.
