Western Massachusetts State Senator Ben Downing is endorsing his fellow Democrat who is running to replace him.Downing announced on Thursday that he is supporting Adam Hinds in the race for the Berkshire, Hampshire, Franklin and Hampden district seat . Downing decided in January not to seek a sixth term.
“He [Hinds] has been someone who has reached out to folks who may have seen their interests as being opposed to one another and brought them together to help build a better tomorrow,” said Downing.
Downing is joining State Senate President Stan Rosenberg and former Massachusetts Congressman John Olver for a Hinds fundraiser in Pittsfield Friday.
Hinds is running against Republican Christine Canning.
