Shakespeare & Company Names Board Leaders Following Spate Of Resignations

The Lenox-based Shakespeare & Company has elected two people to fill board of trustee roles vacated following the abrupt departure of the group’s executive director in early March.Shakespeare & Company says the board of trustees has elected current members Kenneth Werner chair and Jeffrey Konowitch vice chair. Nearly three weeks ago, chair Sarah Hancock and two vice chairs resigned their posts days after executive director Rick Dildine left six months into the job. During this time, founding artistic director Tina Packer maintained the company’s strength.

“I think it’s in turmoil, but I don’t think it’s in danger,” said Packer.

Meanwhile, Tony Simotes, a founding member of Shakespeare & Company who left as artistic director in November before his contract was to expire, joined Berkshire Theatre Group as managing directorMonday.
