Computer problems with Connecticut's health care exchange have led to some customers being dropped by their insurance carriers.

Access Health CT chief executive Kevin Counihan says the computer system problems may have affected about 5,800 customers who enrolled for coverage under the Affordable Care Act.

He says the problem led to discrepancies in how much customers were told they owed, and how much the insurance carriers were expecting to receive. That led to some cancellations for insufficient payments.

Counihan says the issue had to do with the calculation of federal subsidies for those customers.

The agency planned to begin calling affected customers on Friday to help them resolve their issues.

He says a computer system fix should be completed by next week.
