Kingston officials have adopted an open space plan for the city that includes several recommendations for taking into account natural resources.

Kingston Mayor Steve Noble says the Common Council voted unanimously on November 10 to adopt the plan, a 10-year strategy for the responsible stewardship and preservation of the city’s natural resources. The Open Space Plan identifies Kingston's resources that help to improve water quality, reduce flood damage, maintain wildlife habitats, improve air quality, protect scenic resources and other community benefits. Recommended actions include adding public access along the Hudson River and the Rondout, establishing more community gardens and planting trees along various streets.
