Seven Department of Public Works employees in Poughkeepsie have tested positive for COVID-19.

City of Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison said on Thursday that seven city DPW employees have tested positive for COVID-19. In response, he says the city deep-cleaned the DPW facilities on Howard Street Thursday and is closing the transfer station there to the public out of an abundance of caution. Rolison says the workers who tested positive are in quarantine at home. The city has begun contact tracing and other employees have been tested, with negative results. Rolison asked for the public’s patience because of the current staff shortage at DPW, including office staff.
