In New York, the City of Kingston has completed conversion to LED lights at a dozen municipal buildings.
Kingston Mayor Steve Noble says the installation at all 12 buildings was subsidized by Central Hudson and was implemented at a cost to the city of just under $129,000, a cost he estimates will be paid off in two-and-a-half years. And once this is paid off, the city can expect to save a bit more than $51,000 each year in electric lighting costs. The buildings include the Andy Murphy Neighborhood Center, City Court, City Hall, DPW’s Administration Building, Garage and Wilbur Avenue facility, the Everette Hodge Community Center, the Police Station, Rondout and Uptown Fire Stations and the Transfer Station.
