The New York State Public Service Commission is holding public hearings Wednesday in Westchester about a proposed public awareness campaign to encourage the use of renewable energy in the county.
The recently enacted 2019 state budget bill amended state Public Service Law, requiring the PSC, in consultation with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), to establish a program to encourage the installation of renewable energy and energy efficiency resources in Westchester. County Executive George Latimer, who will testify at 3, says Westchester has been working to make sure that all potential applicants for natural gas service have information about available alternatives. The two public hearings are at 3 and 6 at White Plains Public Library, each preceded by a half-hour information session. The public comment period runs through June 24.
