United Way is thanking the community after receiving nearly $22,000 in donations to help Newburgh following a deadly tornado in May.

United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region held a supply drive following the May 15 tornado that took two lives in Newburgh alone, and severely damaged homes and businesses. United Way received both monetary donations as well as goods and services, which helped to restock quickly depleted soup kitchens and food pantries. Newburgh Brewing Company held a benefit one evening, dedicating all taproom proceeds to United Way. United Way continues to distribute items to locations serving the people of Newburgh, including Blacc Vanilla, Head Start of Eastern Orange County, the Newburgh Ministry, RECAP, St. Mary’s and St. Patrick’s outreach, among others.
