A Congressman from New York’s Hudson Valley is trying to cut down on red tape when it comes to processing disability claims from veterans. He is announcing legislation today to address the issue.

Democratic Representative Sean Patrick Maloney is introducing the Disabled Veterans Red Tape Reduction Act to help address the Veterans Administration’s backlog of disability claims. Maloney says the bill would allow veterans to have their medical examinations performed by physicians outside the VA system, which would result in more expeditious processing of veterans’ disability claims. He says the Act has the support of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
