A filmed version of Heidi Schreck’s acclaimed, Tony-nominated Broadway play What the Constitution Means to Me will premiere later this month on Amazon Prime Video, which comes with a new overall deal with the playwright-actress which will have Schreck creating content that will premiere exclusively on Prime Video.
The 2019 Broadway production was filmed during its final week at the Helen Hayes Theater by director Marielle Heller who recently directed, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood with Tom Hanks as Mister Rogers.
The play features Schreck as she recounts her teenage, tuition-paying fascination with Constitutional debate competitions. A Pulitzer Prize finalist, Constitution uses both comedy and intense personal reflection to chart the impact the founding document has had on four generations of women in Schreck’s family. Schreck was Tony Award-nominated for both the play and her performance.
"What the Constitution Means to Me" will premiere October 16 on Amazon Prime and this Sunday, October 4, there will be a special screening of the film as part of this year’s Woodstock Film Festival at the Greenville Drive-In at 7 p.m.
