Pats Beat Broncos In Overtime, Danes Upend Delaware State 87-71

In the NFL, the New England Patriots beat the Denver Broncos 34-31 in overtime, after a misplayed punt led to a 31-yard field goal. Denver's Tony Carter ran into Ryan Allen's punt after it landed and Nate Ebner recovered for New England at the Broncos 13-yard line. After Tom Brady ran twice to line up the kick, Stephen Gostkowski connected for his 21st successful field goal attempt.

Meanwhile, Dallas moved into a first-place tie with Philadelphia in the NFC East. The Cowboys blew a 21-6 lead in the second half before Dan Bailey hit a 35-yard field goal as time expired to lift Dallas past the Giants 24-21, ending New York's four-game winning streak.

Joe Flacco threw a 66-yard touchdown pass to Jacoby Jones and Justin Tucker kicked four field goals to pace the Ravens in a 19-3 win over the New York Jets.

It was Carolina over Miami 20-16. St. Louis trumped Chicago 42-21. Jacksonville defeated Houston 13-6. Minnesota had a 26-26 tie with Green Bay. Pittsburgh edged Cleveland 27-11. Kansas City fell to San Diego 41-38. Tampa Bay topped Detroit 24-21. Arizona took Indianapolis 40-11 and Tennessee defeated Oakland 23-19.

Auburn moved up two spots to No. 4 in this week's BCS standings, setting up a top-five matchup with No. 1  Alabama in the Iron Bowl.

In the NBA, Detroit topped Brooklyn 109-97. The Clippers beat Chicago 121-82. Phoenix knocked off Orlando 104-96. Oklahoma City beat Utah 95-73 and Sacramento fell to the Lakers 100-86.

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose will have surgery to repair a medial meniscus tear in his right knee today in Chicago.

Checking news on the ice, Detroit beat Buffalo 3-1 and Carolina defeated Ottawa 4-1.

In college basketball, the Siena Saints fell to Purdue 81-73.

Meanwhile, No. 24 North Carolina upset third-ranked Louisville 93-84 and No. 6 Duke defeated Vermont 91-90.

Finally in women’s college basketball, the University at Albany women's basketball team upended Delaware State 87-71.
