Items belonging to Alexander Hamilton are now on display among the 18th century military exhibits at Fort Ticonderoga.
The privately run nonprofit organization that runs the northern New York tourist attraction and historic site says the fort's museum purchased the artifacts in 1945 from a great-great-nephew of Hamilton, the nation's first Treasury secretary.
The rare items include a circa 1790s sword with Hamilton's name on it, his mahogany writing box from the early 19th century and an epaulet from his Continental Army uniform.
Hamilton, whose life is the subject of a hit Broadway play, never visited Ticonderoga. But his father-in-law, Philip Schuyler of Albany, was in charge of the fort during the early years of the American Revolution.
The Hamilton exhibit is on display through Oct. 20.
