The Democratic candidate for Plattsburgh Town Supervisor overwhelmingly won the open seat in Tuesday’s elections.
Incumbent Democrat Bernie Bassett announced that he would retire as the town of Plattsburgh supervisor at the end of his term.

Democrat Michael Cashman faced off against Republican Vasso LaForest.  Unofficial results show Cashman winning with 60 percent of the vote.

Cashman says he's  excited. “I’m a transfer to this region. And though I was not born a native here, Plattsburgh is my forever home and I’m looking forward to serving it over the next four years.”

Cashman takes office on January 1st.
