New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is extending the state’s “PAUSE” policy for another two weeks, meaning schools and non-essential businesses will remain closed until at least April 29.

Cuomo said Monday it is not the time to become complacent in the fight against coronavirus. Cuomo also says he is increasing the fine for violating the state’s social distancing protocols from $500 dollars to $1-thousand dollars.

He is urging local governments to enforce those rules.

The governor says he will also ask President Donald Trump Monday afternoon to use the 1,000-bed naval ship docked in New York Harbor to treat COVID-19 patients.
