Berkshire Restaurants Adjusting As Baker Ups Indoor Seating Limits

Berkshire County restaurant owners are adjusting after Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker relaxed COVID-19 related indoor seating limits.

For Chin Lee – owner of Flavours of Malaysia in downtown Pittsfield – news that the state is increasing the maximum number of indoor diners for resaturants isn’t exactly cause for celebration.

“If the governor increased it from six to 10 people per table, right, and then you can sit at the bar – but then we don’t have Plexiglas at the bar, you know, so it doesn’t make much difference to us because our restaurant is so tiny, right?" he explained to WAMC. "So the seating is still limited.”

Bar service will now be allowed in restaurants as long as customers are seated and at least six feet apart.
