Pittsfield, Massachusetts has extended the payment deadline for city taxes.
In response to a newly passed state law intended to provide relief to those impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak, Pittsfield real estate and personal property taxes will now be due on June 1st regardless of the printed date on any notice. Additionally, interest and other penalties on some late payments will be waived.
“Bills that were due after March 10th, 2020 and paid before June 30th, 2020 for any excise tax, betterment assessment, water or sewer bill, or other charge added to a tax,” said Director of Administrative Services Roberta McCulloch-Dews.
The legislation also says cities and towns cannot terminate services for late payments if the delay was the result of the pandemic.
