Burlington, Vermont residents will cast votes on whether F-35 fighter jets should be based at Burlington International Airport.
The Burlington City Council voted 10-2 Monday to keep the original wording of a non-binding resolution regarding the jets for the upcoming Town Meeting Day ballot.

More than 1,000 people signed the resolution, which asks voters to choose between stopping the jets' arrival or allowing the jets with equipment that lowers their noise level.

WCAX-TV reports two councilors tried to change the resolution's wording, saying it was misleading. The jets are scheduled to arrive in Vermont in 2019.

Town Meeting Day is March 6.
