U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat from Connecticut, has announced legislation to restore online privacy. Blumenthal wants to halt a Republican-led rollback of privacy rules.

President Donald Trump repealed the Federal Communications Commission’s broadband privacy rules last week. Internet service providers can now sell personal consumer information without their permission.

Blumenthal says signing up for Internet service should not mean Americans have to sign away their rights to privacy.

Blumenthal says the bill would restore people’s confidence in using the Internet.
